CoreSource Associates Participate in Plane Pull for Charity

A group of CoreSource associates in Lancaster, Penn., recently did some heavy lifting for client Piedmont Airlines at Harrisburg International Airport. The team pulled a plane, weighing roughly 30,000 pounds, a distance of 15 feet to raise funds for the United Way of the Capital Region.

In Piedmont’s annual Dash Pull, held at various airports across the country, teams of eight made up of Piedmont employees and community members compete to see who can pull a DASH-8 turboprop aircraft, which seats 37 people, 15 feet in the fastest time. Each participant pays $10 and the money goes directly to the United Way. One team was announced the grand winner.

“We were invited to get a team together by our client, Piedmont Airlines, to help raise money for United Way. We assembled nine people strong and it truly was a fun day,” said Chris Hess, Senior Administrative Assistant. “Our team pulled the Dash plane 15 feet from start to finish in 7.4 seconds, which was a very respectable time – especially in light of the fact that we had never done it before and were competing against teams who obviously had, some of which were all-male teams.”

The CoreSource participants, who also enjoyed a picnic lunch inside an airplane hangar, included Kevin Ray, Eileen Lefever, Amy Eidemiller, Ed Jackson, Lloyd Sarrel, Brendan Quinn, Mitch Redcay and Chris Hess. CoreSource Northeast Regional President Bob Wolfkiel was an alternate member of the team.
