Trustmark Companies Mequon Office Awards $10,000 Foundation Grant to Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund

MEQUON, Wis. – Employees at Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions’ office in Mequon, Wis., selected Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund as the recipient of $10,000 in support from The Trustmark Foundation.

“We selected Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund because of the critical role this organization plays within our own community,” said Carilyn Carlson, Administrative Manager, Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions, Mequon. “Two employees in our office have family members who were diagnosed with breast cancer and benefited from this organization.”

The Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund provides supportive services and financial resources to eligible recipients based on financial need, who either live or receive treatment in Sheboygan County. The organization is particularly known to fund various life-enhancing expenses typically not covered by traditional insurance or other community resources.

Life-enhancing expenses can include: services and devices to assist cancer patients in coping with their conditions, personal care items (cosmetics, massage, manicure, hair styling) to help enhance the self-image of cancer patients, and financial assistance for treatment-related expenses, such as transportation and medication, not covered by insurance. “Trustmark supports local programs that improve health and wellness, which we believe the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund boldly underscores through the many ways it assists cancer patients in our community,” said Richard (RAE) Egleston, Assistant Vice President, Trustmark Regional Worksite Sales. “Funding a night or weekend getaway to help a cancer patient and spouse or family member maintain a positive outlook on life is just one of the unique ways this organization helps promote wellness.”

The Trustmark Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Trustmark Companies, sets aside a portion of its annual budget to make charitable contributions that benefit communities in which Trustmark employees live and work. Mequon office employees submitted names of several charities to be considered for funding. A selection committee was then formed, which chose Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.
