LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The 12th annual Conway Park Autumn Classic employee wellness outdoor timed run/walk event that took place on Tuesday, Sept. 27 drew employee participation from more than 30 companies situated in and around the Lake Forest-based corporate park. Chicago Bears’ linebacker Nick Roach was also on hand post-race to sign breast cancer awareness t-shirts sold by the Bears Care Foundation, raising $3,000.
More than 550 Conway Park company employees registered for the lunchtime 5K (3.1-mile) timed run or the 1.5-mile fun walk. Hospira won first place corporate team trophy for the 5K. Medals were also awarded to the top three male runners: Bob LaRue (Hospira) 17:28, Geoff Klein (Trustmark) 19:17 and Grigori Lev (Trustmark) 19:29; and top three female runners: Cory McFadden (Tenneco) 21:01, Seema Kumbhat (Hospira) 21:18 and Patti Shuma (Trustmark) 21:42.
“We look forward to getting together every year for the Autumn Classic to promote health, wellness, physical activity and bolster a sense of community spirit among Conway Park’s businesses and employees,” said Kelly Tybor, Wellness Manager, Trustmark/HealthFitness. “Although brief showers dampened participation a little this time, the runners and walkers that weathered the raindrops were as enthusiastic as ever.” Runners followed marked roads and walkers used recently installed sidewalks connecting businesses throughout the corporate park.
Lake Forest’s Conway Park Autumn Classic event is supported by the City of Lake Forest, Conway Park Owners Association and the Conway Park businesses, with employee participants from the Chicago Bears, Abbott, Trustmark Companies, HealthFitness, Hospira, Pactiv, Brunswick, Tenneco, Reynolds, Solo Cup, Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and other companies.
