LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Trustmark Mutual Holding Company announced today that several members of senior leadership will assume new or expanded roles, enabling the company to accelerate pursuit of Consumer Health Advice market opportunities made possible by the recent acquisition of HealthFitness Corporation, an award-wining provider of integrated health promotion and fitness management solutions.
“Trustmark’s acquisition of HealthFitness affords both Trustmark and HealthFitness many more opportunities than we imagined when we bought the company four months ago,” said Trustmark CEO Dave McDonough. “To be sure we select the right opportunities and make the most of them, we’re placing leaders in positions where they can best employ their experience, talents, and passion to grow HealthFitness, continue our advances in operational excellence in our TPA subsidiary, CoreSource, and assure the success of our strategy to improve health and well-being and reduce healthcare costs for our customers.”
HealthFitness CEO Gregg Lehman, Ph.D., will focus on strategy – building customer and industry relationships, taking HealthFitness into new markets, seeking potential acquisitions, and developing new products that will expand and round out Trustmark’s consumer health advice capabilities.
To free Lehman from day-to-day management responsibilities, Paul Lotharius, previously President of CoreSource, will assume a new role – President and Chief Operating Officer of HealthFitness, reporting to Mr. Lehman.
“From his CoreSource experience, Paul has broad knowledge of the payer side of the health insurance industry – one of the main areas of expertise we knew Trustmark brought to the table to help HealthFitness reach its growth goals,” said McDonough. “Paul is also very familiar with the latest healthcare management and wellness trends, and he understands the direction we need to take these products to meet the emerging needs of midsize and larger employers targeted by HealthFitness.”
McDonough also announced the promotion of Nancy Eckrich, Trustmark Senior Vice President, to President of CoreSource. “Nancy has been with Trustmark for nearly 25 years,” said McDonough. “She started on the claims side of the business and has a first-hand understanding of the foundation of the CoreSource enterprise. More recently, Nancy has led several businesses to strong financial results. Since 2005, she has had responsibility for our managed care team, which has stayed ahead of the industry in both performance and the development of clinical expertise, exemplified by services such as YourCare.”
McDonough noted that, “When Trustmark acquired HealthFitness, we knew they had a highly talented team and that the sharing of skills and responsibilities would go both ways between the two companies. With that, I’m pleased to announce the expanded role of Jeanne Crawford, Chief Human Resources Officer of HealthFitness, and the promotion of Brian Gagne, Senior Vice President of HealthFitness Account Management and Program Development.”
Ms. Crawford will assume human resources responsibility for HealthFitness and the CoreSource regional offices. “Jeanne brings 30 years of HR experience, with 20 dedicated to leading HR for a geographically diverse employee population,” said McDonough. “This is a critical role, given that we now have 3,900 HealthFitness and 1,000 CoreSource employees outside our Lake Forest headquarters.”
Mr. Gagne will be promoted to Executive Vice President, reporting to Mr. Lotharius. Said McDonough, “Brian has more than 20 years of health, fitness and wellness experience in the corporate and medical fitness markets. He is broadening his scope of responsibility to work with other Trustmark divisions to develop innovative products that will span the employee benefit market.”
